Change of Status to Charitable Incorporated Organisation 

Bishops Frome Village Centre  is now registered with the Charities Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Although the charitable company now exists, the old charity will remain in operation until all the assets have been transferred. The main asset is the building which is held in trust for the benefit of the local community. Currently this is registered with the Parish Council as custodian trustee but will in future be registered with the new CIO.

Although this is a new charity to administer the charitable work of the Centre, it does not affect the way it operates. It does however mean that the charity is a corporate body rather than a collection of individual trustees and, as such, it reduces the trustees’ personal financial liabilities and can provide more scope to achieve its charitable aims.
